EXPANDED YOUTH BUREAU:
We have grown to include; 2 DARE Deputies, a Juvenile Division officer (Part-time DARE instructor), a Hartland School Resource officer and a pending Pinckney Resource officer (Grant pending). In 1996, meetings were held with all Law Enforcement agencies and schools in Livingston County to come up with a five year funding plan to provide DARE to all elementary students in the Pinckney, Fowlerville and Hartland Schools.
One DARE instructor is attending "Middle School DARE Instructor's training" in May, to present a Middle School program in the Pinckney School district.
Our Youth Bureau officers work special events during the summer months and assist Road Patrol with special operations such as Minors and alcohol violation sting operations.  They also talk to pre-school and elementary students with such programs as "Stranger Danger"
EXPANDED TRAFFIC SAFETY BUREAU:
We have doubled the Traffic Bureau.  We now have four Deputies working Selective Enforcement in problem areas and trained in Crash Reconstruction for serious injury and fatal car crashes.  Our Deputies routinely assist other police agencies within Livingston County with these investigations.
We have purchased a Laser radar and the technology for Computer reconstruction programs.
Two of our Specialist have just completed the new State Certification process for "Child Seat Inspection Technicians".  The Sheriff Department is the only agency in Livingston County with officers trained to provide assistance in this area.
Traffic officers duties include: Bus Flasher violation program, Driver's Education class visits, Mock Traffic crashes at the county High Schools and selective enforcement requests from residents.
