Youth Bureau

As Youth Officer for the Livingston County Sheriff Department some of my responsibilities include assisting the Road Patrol Officers in the investigation of matters involving juvenile violators.  Furthermore, the Youth Bureau prepares violations of the criminal statues and juvenile code to be forwarded to the Prosecutor's office or Probate Court.  At times it is necessary to take physical custody of a juvenile.  This may be a punitive measure or a protective one.  The Youth Bureau also participates in the Juvenile Diversion Program.  This program is designed as an alternative to the Juvenile Justice System.  There are criteria for determining if a youthful offender will be diverted.  A determination must be made if this alternative is in the best interest of the youth as well as the community.

Sincerely,

Deputy Christine Hur
