My unit represents the First Michigan Co. Sharpshooters/Co.C. of Berdan"s USSS who served at both engagements during the Seven Days. My comrades and I are looking forward to returning to Jackson this summer. In addition to participating on the field, we will again be seeking donations to restore the Vermont Sharpshooter monument at Gettysburg which was damaged in a storm in 1994. The monument column has been restored and will be mounted on the stand during November"s Remembrance Day. Additional funds will be to replace the original Eagle, which NPS refuses to return to the elements due to it"s rapid deterioration. My regards to an excellent Website.

My friends have already beat me to this site!!!!!
I have attended Jackson for many years now and I greatly upset at missing it this year. I had to work and could not get the weekend off. I plan to attend next year and every year after. This is my favorite event and has many special memories for me. To Michele, Beth, Mindi, and Mandi: Never forget the hill, hill rolling, or Ross in the tree=). Your doing a great job with the renactment. Keep it up!!

Casey Holcombe

I went to my first reenactment in Mississippi in
1997 and I loved everything about it. Now I have
joined a reenactment group and go to all the events that I can. I love studying about the
C-W. I have learned that my great-great grandfather was injured and captured (by the Yanks) at Antietam. I am having a great time. I
want to learn more and I am interested in hearing
from other reenactors.

Ms. Kay Keeslar

As I plan my Spring vacation in Gettysburg this winter, I am wondering about a reinactment in Jackson this year. I really enjoyed the Great Skedaddle last year and was sorry I was rained out of seeing it the second day. Please let me know when the next event is and if you have any ideas regarding my first trip to Gettysburg, I sure could use some assistance. I am especially interested in a reasonable place to stay and if I can comfortably visit other sites and areas of interest in the area. As you can tell, I am pretty new at this. My greatest interest is not so much the battles themselves, but the people, family, nursing and the effect on all of the people of that time. Thanks for any tips you may be able to share. Hi! It"s not often that we get to see Civil War reenactments over here in Japan... so, I had to come back to Michigan to see one! I took 24 fo my Japanese friends along with, and they thought it was all very interesting. Fortunately, we went on Saturday when the weather finally was like August again (I told them all to dress for warm weather since MI is so hot and sticky, blah blah... big mistake!)

I used to reenact with the 24th MI Vol. Inf. before I came over here to Shiga to teach (btw, Shiga is the sister-state to Michigan in Japan). It was good to see my pards again... huzzah for Old Glory and Michigan!

PS: this site really does look good, even in Japanese!

I appreciate that Jackson has had such a long history of Battalion oriented organizatin. It was one of the first to do so in the Midwest and I am convinced that btn oriented reenactments are the best way to go in the hobby for the military aspect of the event. Great job, Col.
